FMS Prompts: # 2...

...the worst movie you ever did see, and why.

***
Damn, I have to relive it again?

Okay so, three days ago this friend suggested that we watch a Malayalam movie on the laptop instead of our usual Die Hard and Fast and Furious types. Why? Because it would be a ‘refreshing’ change. *insert the hindi G word in full capitals here which I don’t want to type out because I have a strong feeling one of my uncles reads my posts secretly* I don’t usually agree but it has Fahadh Fazal in it, who I think is one of the best actors in Indian cinema (courtesy 22, Female, Kottayam which, incidentally, all of you should watch, get subtitles) AND its a Lal Jose movie (all non-Malayalees, he is one of those we-expect-good-cinema-from-you types).

Turns out, WORST. IDEA. EVER.

We finished the movie only and only because we really wanted to know how the director would manage to wrap up the mess that was Diamond Necklace. Ah, even saying the name out loud is painful.

Characters just appeared and disappered at will and the story meandered around all over the place (if you could call it a story). NOTHING made sense. I won’t elaborate on the plot and waste both of our times. Should suffice to say I’m cinematically traumatized, even more so than when I watched the Golmaal series, which is saying something. Pointless, pointless, POINTLESS waste of resources the movie was.

So. Anyone willing to give it a try? I'll send the BR copy across :P

P.S: What’s your worst movie mistake?

  1. I don't know, I watch them for passing time, so I guess I seldom berate them. Plus, I have an exceptionally good memory at forgetting names :D

    1. But even for entertainment value, movies need to have a certain standard, yeah?

  3. Malayalam movies are a strict no for me, for obvious reasons. Although some of the old movies are gems.

My worst movie mistake is undoubtedly 'Jhoom Barabar Jhoom'. I left the theater mid movie and came back after an hour. Preity and Abhishek were still seated where they were before, and the dialogues were the same too. It was almost like they paused the movie until I came back :P

I then left the theater for good.

    1. No! Don't give up on Malayalam cinema, movies like 22, Female, Kottayam and Ustad Hotel are worth watching.

      Thankfully, I haven't watched JBJ :P

    2. Looks like JBJ was a popular choice for Suckiest Movie of the Year.

  4. Your uncle reads your blog ?

What should I do? My dad reads my blog. And I use the F word rather too frequently. :/

I will write on the topic as soon as possible. *Fingers crossed *

  6. I remember one late night movie that we went out for, me and 3 of my friends. We ALL slept in the movie... it was such a funny sight! :P And whats worse, I do not even remember which was the movie... something about gods, titans or some shit like that! Horrible!

  7. A bad movie is such a pain to sit through. I remember I disliked Wedding Crashers, Bad Teacher, and Ghosts of Girlfriends past...as well as the Hangover series and Grownups. Too light, and too many immature jokes. Which is exactly what they're marketed on!

    1. English movies are still better, trust me, Indian cinema comes up with a lot of crap along with the gems that they create :)

  9. Really? That bad? I had heard decent reviews about it... Oh well, I guess I'll give it a miss then.

One of the worst movies I've seen is Padmasri Doctor Saroj Kumar (or something along those lines), which was kinda like a sequel to Udayanaanu Thaaram. Terrible is not the word. I couldn't believe that someone of Srinivas' caliber could do a movie like that.

Another one is Jhoom Barabar Jhoom. *shudder* No other movie has made me want to just get up and leave from the theater halfway. Unbearable.

    1. No, don't even look in that direction.

Speaking of who, Srinivasan is there in this movie as well.
