Things People Shouldn't Do....

1).... Wait till the battery is 1% to plug in your phone for charging.  The power might just go off, you know. And if you have the kinda luck I do, then automatically assume that the power WILL go off.

2).... Procrastinate going to the loo because your favorite scene is playing on telly. Accidents happen. Ones that you won't even be able to justify.

3).... Not keep back-ups of everything you own. Digitally speaking, that is. One wrong link clicked, one 'bad sector' in the hard disk, one teeny mistake - POOF! Every single song you painstakingly downloaded, every GA episode you love, every Word doc with your entire life's worth of 'outpourings', every assignment you caffeinated yourself for... Gone. Erased without a trace.

4).... Take someone for granted. They might just decide NOT to be your doormat anymore. They might decide to just up their behind and leave. And then you'll sit there and be amazed at the 'them' shaped hole in your life that sucks all the happiness out of you.

5).... Fight with your better half and then try to get even by staying up till three a.m. talking to every member of the opposite sex you can think of. One word for anyone who thinks it's a solution. UNCOOL. And I will only congratulate your better half for have a screaming match with/dumping you.

6).... Philosophize too much (especially when you're in your twenties and thirties. Or younger). Why? People start thinking you are going through a bad phase. They bring you fruit to alleviate the unhappiness. And sympathy. And lots of long, slanty looks.

Most of all, people shouldn't lie. O.k, maybe 'lie' is a blanket term. What I mean is that I get when you're lying because you've bad grades or you broke the best crystal vase or about a missed assignment or being late because of last night's party or forgotten deadline. I get that.

It's when people lie about inconsequential things that I don't understand. Those small white lies which have no real consequence except make you seem the way you want to seem. Fleeting words strung together just that second to make people believe your fake point. Lies that people don't bother hauling you up about because they are that small. What pleasure do you get in getting people to believe in your white lies? Not like they matter. Not to you, not to them, not to anyone... except in that one second before someone changes the topic.

I don't get it.

O.k, I admit, the rest of the post was a ruse to write about all the lying. But I realized suddenly just how much some people do it and I can't talk to anyone about it. I scared a couple of clueless souls with all my restless, disjointed sentences about liars and left them wondering if I had finally gone over to the dark side.

The frustration wanted an outlet and thereby the blog post.

O.k, I'm done here. The ones who snoozed can wake up and leave. Bbye.

Reasons for being MIA

I was too busy not studying for exams.
You know the wonderful way exams have for reminding you of work that has to be done without finishing which you just can't bear to start studying? Yeah. So I was catching up on the last season of Grey's Anatomy.
If you have any interests in sitcoms as a whole, I recommend strongly (I can't stress 'strongly' enough) that you download the last three episodes of season 6 of Grey's Anatomy and watch them. They are nothing short of amazing. The kind of amazing that you see very, very rarely. A little background for the uninitiated here.

Then I got my hands on a copy of The Immortals of Meluha. You know the way I have to finish a book in one sitting? Yeah. So that.

Then I got busy decimating flowers for Onam, staying up the whole night and making every single moment count. My last Onam in college and I get all weepy because whatever I do there is going to be the last. Yeah. So that as well.

Then somebody called me sensible. Beat that! Made my day, I tell you. There is at least one person in the world who thinks Priyanka Victor is sensible:P I mean, like, wow.
O.k so that's not a reason but how do you brag about being called sensible, decently :D

But I was mostly MIA because there is this trick that Reliance has. You know the way they cut the internet connection sometimes? Like when you, like an absolute jackass, forget to pay the bill? Yeah. So that too.

Anyway, so I missed FB (where people discovered that I am called Dinky too; yeah that's my pet-name. Yes. Lets start with the 'donkey' and 'dinkchika' jokes) and Blogger so much that I hugged my laptop when the connection came back on (after a very irate mother paid the bill) and told both that I missed them deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees much.
I'm sorry if I haven't commented on your blogs, Ai yam the back now to make you listen to my pointless blahs :D

And calling out to all the girls who don't shudder at being girly sometimes, check out Darlings of Venus. The awesomeness of the writers (I don't include myself:P) itself makes this baby amazing:) Contribute and help us grow. Lets be girls together.

I have a story scheduled for posting tomorrow since I'll be busy fainting from payasam overdose.
For all my Malayalee readers, my hrudayam niranja onashamsagal (to those who couldn't make sense of that, happy onam).

Our Pookalam
For all my not-so-Malayalee readers, look up Onam and you'll be treated to the best flower carpets (like the above picture) ever. And treat yourselves to a ready-made sadya (lunch) as well, just for the heck of it (if you get lost in the process, here's a generalised 'how to')

Miss me, anyone? No? Damn.

Doings, Happenings and Other-Ings

Caution: This post has no head, no tail and nothing in between that is related.

We had Gokulashtami celebrations in college, and some.
It's a huge deal for us; we get to work on making our department procession floats the most awesome (obviously hoping we win). The best part for us, girls, is that we get to dress up (read: Obsessive Compulsive Planning Disorder for at least two weeks now).

So I noticed some stuff, stuff that I shouldn't probably write about. But I will still go ahead and do it, because I am a blundering fool who loves getting her butt handed out to her for not having been politically correct. I don't like something, I will blog about it:P (yes, I can't keep shut, nor do I want confrontations AND I have an opinion. Quite a piece of work, ain't I?:P)

So anyway, blehs happen and make me go

like..

1) People will do anything for power. And power here, in a college like mine, is getting to do what you want (even if it is the stupidest thing since Rakhi Sawant's implants) while trampling over the most sensible of ideas.

2) Saris can be EXTREMELY fun to wear. Quite a statement coming from me because till yesterday I despised saris (because they can and are worn in all the wrong ways while still being called a traditional dress that makes a girl look 'homely'. PAH!). But since yesterday, I have altered my statement slightly and say, yes, saris, if worn properly, can make you feel like a frikkin' princess:)

3) There are a whole horde of people who will do absolutely no work, contribute not so much as a sneeze in the direction of the celebrations, not emotionally, not physically, not monetarily and still find it in their heart to turn up, take part and turn their goddamn snooty noses up about how mediocre it was.

4) Guys (read: I speak about one particular breed:P) look SEXY in traditional attire. Much more than you believed possible :D

5) People will get drunk at all inconvenient times. And make you yearn for a couple of shots yourself just so you can handle the tension in the air. Too bad I don't drink, I wish I did.
6) Drunk people say wonderful things:D Enough said.

7) It is VERY easy to 'trim' one of your eyebrows off in the middle making it look like a half-mowed mini-lawn (yes, that was one of yours truly's feats and no I'm not going to put up a picture of it).

8) People love freaking out. We love making a scene about how things are going wrong and how we'd have done it differently and all the bull that goes with it.

We love telling people how THEY were wrong as well. To hell with productivity and co-operation. And people love rubbing our faces in how many tonnes of work they did, how they single-handedly lifted Mt. Govardhan.

9) It's trendy to be different. Who cares if you actually believe in the cause. You come up with the most retarded idea which has no connection to the project-in-question and that, my child, will earn you respect and adoration and adulation and whatnot that you crave from the very depths of your being.

10) I have the most uncooperative, divided class ever which doesn't give a shit what other people feel, do. I include myself in this.

Now that my bloodlust is satisfied (and I have avenged my bff on several counts:P Another story), I move onto happier things..

I'm fast approaching 100 posts:)
And somebody teach me how to install Disqus without losing previous comments.

It's been raining awards. Making me one truly happy and at-peace blogger.

First Risha did.
Then Spaceman gave it right back to me.
Then Gowthami decided that my blog is lovely.

And Madame Tay-Tay says she digs my blog.

Which I want to pass on to PsychBabbler. I was looking for the perfect award for her and now I have found it for I totally, entirely dig her blog.

Creme de la creme? BlogJunta's Junta of the Month (July - Veteran Blogger)

Well, what more can a blogger want, I say. I am truly very, very honored, it doesn't stop being true how many ever times I keep saying it. The attention-junkie in me is screaming out in ecstasy.

And it's a wonderful feeling when, what you consider your highly mediocre writing talents, are admired by people; enough that you come to mind in the same sentence as award. Means more than I can ever convey in writing (which is saying something, considering that is the only way I know to express things properly).

Thank you, peepuls. So berry much.
(I promise never to bore you with so much rant or emotion overload any more, ever again)

Now I go to sleep dreaming of the yummy pasta that I'm going to polish off without mercy tomorrow. Thank you in advance, Nandu.
And get ready for Spaceman Spiff's lablooey guest post.
She's brought it, and how:)

P.S: I did the linkbacks only this time, since I did the whole hullabaloo last time. Not like y'all want to know hundreds of random things about me, right?
P.P.S: I worked black magic on my comments box and a lot of the previous comments have changed order. I don't know how to fix it, so please don't be mad if my replies have come above your comments.
P.P.S.S: Did you know I have a blog badge? Just saying:P
